Spring 2022 Styled Boudoir Session

I am always inspired by the newness and refreshing energy that comes with Spring. There’s a sense of, “Ahh, fresh start!”, when admiring the green sprigs and colorful blooms engulfing the once bare tree limbs. So, I decided to translate that into a boudoir photography project (go figure)! I knew for certain that I wanted to incorporate a floral backdrop. Suddenly, Miranda Priestly’s condescending tone comes to mind, “Florals for spring? Groundbreaking.” No offense to Miranda, but don’t mess with a classic, okay?

“Florals for spring? Groundbreaking.”

Along with flowers on flowers, I wanted to incorporate soft, blush tones and textures. I thought the use of the bargain section’s tulle was a great fit so I ran with it. I picked up a bouquet from Tom Thumb on my way to the studio and decided to just wing it once I got there. I have found that you can only prep so much before killing all creativity, at least in my mind, so I let it unfold as it wants once I sit down and am able to take a look at the scene as a whole. In addition to netting for the backdrop, I also picked up some chiffon to tie in the dreamy effect I was hoping to capture. I found my model’s bodysuit on Amazon by a rec from a previous bride I photographed weeks prior. My bride had the bodysuit in white but I chose a dusty rose color for this session.

Cait and I had so much fun shooting this Spring inspired, boudoir photography session! She absolutely rocked this look and was ever patient with me as I set up some external light to play around with in my studio bathroom. A huge shoutout to the talented Meagan Starr for always killing the hair and makeup game, AMIRIGHT? I also wanted to credit where its due to this beautiful session by L Castellano for Lucy’s Magazine. Okay, I’ll shut up now. Enjoy!
