A Luxury DFW Boudoir Experience: How One Mother Reclaimed Herself

I want to take a moment to spotlight a client who I now get to call a friend. Meet Katie, a mother of three and an absolute bombshell.

Motherhood has a unique way of ripping you open and bringing out the depths of your personhood, the vastness of your love, and the fullness of joy all at once. It is easy to forget the fullness of who you are outside of it.

I first met Katie back in 2022, and since then, our journey together has been nothing short of special. We’ve created magic across multiple sessions (and countries) ranging from her personal boudoir experience to the Valentine’s Marathon Day, to Spooky Sessions, and in 2024, she joined me at the 4th annual La Femme Retreat in Tulum, Mexico. Katie even went on to create the very first (and only) “Mom Scholarship,” generously donating to support another mother in attending the retreat. It’s a beautiful example of how her generosity doesn’t just give, it creates a ripple effect. See here.

What makes Katie unforgettable isn’t just how she photographs, but who she is. She is the kind of woman who knows exactly what she wants and goes after it, no matter the obstacles that might stand in her way. There’s a quiet confidence about her, a grounded sense of self that you feel the moment you’re around her. It’s magnetic.

Like so many mothers, she carries the world (and the needs of tiny humans) on her shoulders which means choosing herself requires intention.

From my perspective, boudoir has become one of those spaces for Katie. It’s a place where she reconnects, reclaims, and reminds herself of who she is beyond the roles of motherhood. It even allows for room to play! See her epic Martian Halloween costume from 2025’s Spooky Sessions below!

What I love about boudoir, is that it invites you back to yourself again and again..

I have had the opportunity to be photographed by Kallan multiple times, and each time I have left with a new respect, appreciation, and gratitude for myself and my body. Kallan is gifted at helping you see yourself as others see you and photographing in a way that feels authentic and uniquely you.

Katie’s First Ever Client Session, 2023

I will never forget my first session and being worried about a scar I found “ugly” that was the result of an emergency life-saving surgery after the birth of my daughter. The photos of that scar, and throughout that session have become some of my favorites and are a beautiful reminder of the messy, raw, vulnerable and beautiful fabric of my motherhood journey.

Katie is a beautiful reminder that choosing yourself doesn’t take away from who you are as a mother…it deepens it. When you allow yourself space to feel confident, alive, and fully seen, that energy touches every part of your life and, in turn, your children’s lives. My hope is that her story gives you permission to do the same: to stop waiting, to stop questioning, and to finally choose you.

I would encourage anyone, but especially mothers who need a push to go for it! Prioritize documenting and treasuring the season you are in and the body that has led you there. I have no doubt that your experience with Kallan will be powerful in just the way you need it to be, it just starts with a leap of faith.

I am forever grateful to call Katie not only my client, but my friend.

To Katie, thank you for always trusting me with your boudoir journey. Thank you for your willingness to encourage other mothers like youtself that they are worthy of feeling seen and beautiful just as they are.
