Dancing Queen: A Retro-Inspired Passion Project

Well, hey there! What’s crackin’?

As most of you know by this point, I am forever obsessed with this little project with the lovely Alex. Talk about disco fever, baby! It all started with her initial email regarding the model call I had put out. She mentioned wanting to do something funky, something that I had been inspired by lately and almost nothing gets me in my feels me quite like 70’s fashion soooo here we are!

I knew I wanted to incorporate greens into the mix considering I have a lot of amber accents and warm tones in the studio these days (and always, let’s be honest). I mean, that’s the most groovy color pallet there ever was! I began the search for an avocado body suit and landed on this dainty, lacy, corset teddy. *chef’s kiss* Luckily Alex and I have the same shoe size because I already owned the perfect pair of pumps for the occasion. Thank you, Sam Edelman! When it came to makeup, I wanted to incorporate that beautiful cut crease that we all know and love along with a little shimmer to mimic major Cher vibes. Always Cher vibes. With major help from the makeup guru herself, Elle, the look was complete and I was very happy with how it turned out!

Per usual, I wanted to challenge myself with this passion project so I practiced beforehand with flashlights and disco balls (far out, man!) and was fairly confident going into the session. I had a vision. I had inspiration and a lot of it came to light but a lot of it was trial and error. Alex and I had so much fun and she was just the best candidate for this shoot! She was the ultimate Dancing Queen. Enjoy!
